Strategic location
The East Arnhem region has a history of trade and entrepreneurship, and is connected with national and international markets. Situated to the east of Darwin, the Northern Territory’s capital, East Arnhem is connected to markets across the Territory and in South East Asia. Gove Airport, 15 kilometres from Nhulunbuy, receives daily services from Cairns and Darwin. The Gove Peninsula also provides the only deep-water port between Darwin and Cairns, which has regular cargo services.
Invest East Arnhem
DEAL was pleased to launch Invest East Arnhem in 2020, our refreshed investment guide for the region.
DEAL’s industry development and attraction role includes actively promoting East Arnhem to businesses to facilitate investment and partnership opportunities. We are a ‘front door’ for domestic and international businesses by connecting them with relevant stakeholders in the region, by helping to navigate development processes and providing a better understanding of the opportunities that exist in East Arnhem.
You can read more about Invest East Arnhem, or download your own copy, on our Industry Development and Attraction Page.
Business development support
On the Gove Peninsula, Nhulunbuy is making a successful transition from a mining town into a regional town, as a result of entrepreneurial businesses and regionalisation of services. Across the region, innovative Yolŋu-led economic and community development initiatives are promoting employment, capability and empowerment.
To support existing and emerging businesses in the region, DEAL provides access to information, networks, services and capital.
