2021 holiday message from the CEO

As we head towards the end of 2021, I am pleased to share my first newsletter as Chief Executive Officer (CEO). I have thoroughly enjoyed my first few weeks in the position and thank everyone for their warm welcome. I specifically thank outgoing CEO Jordy Bowman for the thoughtful and generous approach to our transition and look forward to continuing the great work of the DEAL team in partnership with the traditional owners, stakeholders, and businesses of East Arnhem in 2022.

At this time of year, it’s good to reflect on the year that has been but also to look ahead and think about what the new year may unveil.

In 2021 East Arnhem continued to adapt and turn adversity into opportunity – a testament to the strength of the region and its people.

The DEAL team continued to work strategically and collaboratively with traditional owners, regional stakeholders, and government to leverage resources and funding into the region, as well as introduce a range of new support offerings for East Arnhem businesses to ensure they are well-positioned for 2022 and beyond. I encourage you to take a look at our 2020/21 Annual Report for more information on the outcomes delivered this year.

Early 2022 will see us continue to build on the success of 2021, with a focus on working with our key stakeholders to identify how we use the unique advantages of East Arnhem to link priorities with investment and support the implementation of economic growth opportunities in the region. I am really excited about all we will be able to accomplish together for East Arnhem in the coming years.

So as 2021 draws to a close, I would like to thank the DEAL Board, Jordy, and the DEAL team for their guidance and introduction to both DEAL and the East Arnhem region over the past month, and their hard work over the past year. I would also like to thank all our stakeholders for your continued support throughout the year.

Our team will be taking a well-earned break over the Christmas period, with our office closed from midday 24 December 2021 and reopening on Tuesday 4 January 2022.

The DEAL team wish you and your families a safe and happy holiday season and we look forward to coming back refreshed and ready for all the opportunities that 2022 will bring.
