Housing
As part of DEAL’s establishment, Rio Tinto provided 250 properties (17% of total housing stock in Nhulunbuy) to support economic development in East Arnhem. DEAL manages and maintains these housing assets in Nhulunbuy to support ongoing economic and business growth.
DEAL housing assets are used to:
Attract and encourage new and expanded economic activity
Support the operation of the region’s existing businesses and service providers
Who can apply
Rental applications are accepted from:
- Employing businesses
- Aboriginal corporations
- Government agencies
All other applications may be considered by exception. If you’re an individual looking for housing, we encourage you to explore Nhulunbuy’s private rental market (see more below).
Availability
The DEAL housing portfolio is currently at full capacity. However, we maintain a waitlist for approved applications and consider a range of criteria to determine allocation priority.
Turnover is very low, so while we encourage applications from all businesses with upcoming housing needs, we cannot provide an expected wait time.
